Shift handover

Build a handover from what happened in the last shift — what needs attention, activity by area, and who was active — for the person taking over.

Updated 24 September 2026

A handover summarises what happened during a shift, so the next person can pick up without asking. Open Timeline → Handover.

Build a handover#

Choose the window it covers — the last 8 hours, the last 12 hours, the last 24 hours or since midnight. Unobits builds the handover from the activity stream:

  • Needs attention — what went wrong or is still open. Nothing went wrong in this window when there is nothing.
  • Activity by area — what happened in each module.
  • On shift — who was active.
  • Events, completed and people active — the counts for the window.

If nothing happened, the page says so and suggests widening the window — or handing over a quiet shift.

Who sees what#

A handover is built from the same stream as the rest of Timeline, so it only includes events from modules the person reading it can access.

When it is useful#

Handover is designed for businesses that run in shifts — clinics, hotels, field services, support teams — but it is just as useful at the end of a working day, or when someone returns from time off.
