Take invoice payments online

Connect your organization’s own Stripe or Paystack account so invoice pay links take card payments, and payments flow back into Finance by webhook.

For owners and adminsUpdated 24 September 2026

Connect your organization's own payment account so that customers can pay invoices online through the View and pay link. Payments are made to your account with the provider, and come back into Finance automatically.

Connect an account#

  1. In Finance → Settings, find How customers pay (it uses your workspace's word for the people you bill) and choose Connect an account.

  2. Choose the provider.

  3. Paste your provider secret key. For Stripe, also paste the webhook signing secret — Stripe signs its notifications with it.

  4. Choose the mode — Live for real payments, Test while you try it out.

  5. Name it (for example Main account) and connect.

  6. Choose Test on the connected account to check the provider accepts the key.

The key is stored encrypted; only its last four characters are ever shown again.

Set the webhook#

Each connected account shows an address like:

text
https://unobits.app/api/webhooks/stripe?org=<your organization id>

Add that address as a webhook endpoint in your provider's dashboard. This is how the provider tells Unobits a payment succeeded, failed or was refunded; without it, payments are taken but do not appear in Finance by themselves.

If you connect more than one account, choose Use for payment links on the one invoices should use. Disconnect removes an account; payment links stop using it.

When no account is connected#

Invoices still go out, and customers can pay by bank transfer. Record those payments on each invoice. The pay link simply is not offered. See Invoices and payments received.

Payments and automations#

Payments received, failed and refunded are events other parts of Unobits can react to — for example, notify the account owner when a payment fails. See Triggers.
