Getting started with Unobits
What Unobits is, how its parts connect, and the shortest path from a new account to a workspace your team actually uses.
On this page
Unobits is one workspace for running a business: the conversations, the customers, the work, the money and the automation that ties them together. These docs explain how to set it up, what each part does, and — just as important — how the parts connect.
What Unobits is#
Most businesses run on a stack of separate tools: an email client, a chat app, a CRM, a project tracker, accounting software, a website builder, an automation service. Each one holds a fragment of the same business, and people spend their day copying between them.
Unobits puts those fragments into one organization with one set of records. A contact in the CRM is the same person whose email thread sits in the Inbox, whose project lives in Projects, and whose invoice is in Finance. When one of them changes, the others know.
- Leadarrives by email, a website form or an import
- CRM person and companyone record for who they are
- Opportunitythe deal you are working on
- ConversationsInbox, Email, Chat — attached to the record
- Projecttasks, files and time for the work you sold
- Invoiceraised in Finance, sent with a pay link
- Paymentrecorded against the invoice and reconciled

Two things that make Unobits different#
It adapts to your kind of business. When you create a workspace you tell Unobits what the business does. A letting agency then sees Properties, Leads and Deals; a clinic sees Patients, Referrals and Treatment plans. The engine underneath is the same, which is why these docs describe the canonical name first and then how it may read in your workspace. Read How Unobits adapts to your business before anything else if your screens use different words from these pages.
Access is layered. Whether someone can do something depends on the modules your workspace uses, your plan, their role, explicit permissions the owner grants, and sometimes the specific record. When something is missing or refused, How access works explains which layer said no.
